LORD OF THE SABBATH, LORD OF EVERY OTHER DAY

Don’t believe the lie of the deceiver who whispers: “If you use some words too often, they lose their impact, don’t you think? Let’s try to be more ‘concrete’ in our language today. Use words for things you can see, touch, taste.”

God’s Truth: Luke 6: 1-5

Prayer: I haven’t had breakfast yet. But it would be a while before my stomach started growling. I’m thinking of the apostles walking through the grainfields and eating the kernels. I am praying for those who will not have breakfast this morning. May I be an instrument of your caring, Lord. I am also thinking about the broader picture of considering that everything I say or do today will be evidence of my belief that “The Son of Man is Lord of the Sabbath” and every other day of the week as well. May I walk today as You would have me walk, Lord.

Journal Questions:

1) What will the evidence be that I believe Jesus is Lord of the Sabbath and today as well?

2) Another specific?

Reread: Luke 6: 1-5

Action Accountability:

1) When I ______today, there will be evidence that I follow Jesus.

2) Because Jesus is in my heart today, I will demonstrate ‘Lord of my life living’ by _________

Closing Prayer: It is so easy, Lord, to slip into ‘me and my’ kind of day. Fill me, Lord, with Your kind of day – the kind that is full of Your Love and Grace. Thank You, Almighty God, Master of my soul.

Possible Activity for the day: give that someone will be able to provide breakfast for their children this week

Possible Attitude for the day: I am thankful that the Son of Man is Lord of the Sabbath and every other day of the week.
